Royal families, both in history and in modern times
Some indigenous countries and tribes allow individuals to obtain citizenship based on their pedigree. For example, in Ireland and Greece, an individual can become a citizen if their grandparents were born in that country, regardless of their or their parents' place of birth. In societies like Australia or the United States, in the 20th century, people were increasingly proud of their pioneers and nation-builders. Establishing descent from these has been and is important to lineage societies, such as the Daughters of the American Revolution and the General Association of the Descendants of the Mayflower.
